Site Design
NetGrowth, Inc. was the original designer of our website. We were tasked with coming up with all the creative ideas, the schema, all the text (we researched the historical data, we used the NAD's descriptions for church officers, evangelism links, monthly themes and special days, etc.). It took about a year to put all that together and to work with the designer since the owner went out of business twice once the project started. Once the site was designed, Steven Gaines was responsible for identifying the tools it would take to maintain the site, identifying an Internet Service Provider, and uploading the site. From there, we assumed full responsibility for the day-to-day webmaster duties while Steven is responsible for the back-end, programming, and database activities. A LOT of thought was put into the website. We have one of the most comprehensive sites when it comes to information. And we've only just begun.

Dear Mario:

Thank you for recognizing our church website as the March 2004 e-church winner. As the church Communications Leader for the last eight years, and having worked in the arena of Information Technology for the last twenty years, the idea of establishing a church presence on the Internet was not optional. I truly believe God placed me in a particular job for a four-year period so that I could learn the art of working with web technology, and learn how to build a website from scratch through the ‘going live’ phase.

When we initially introduced the idea of a website to our church board, we had a burden to not only witness, but to permanently capture the rich heritage of our church, church members who were growing older, and our church school, the oldest African American private school in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex.

We secured the services of an advertising firm, NetGrowth, Inc. (now out of business) to assist us with the design of the current website. And we have handled the webmaster duties since the site went live July, 2001. We are thankful for the assistance with backend and programming activities handled by Steven Gaines, a programmer who is also a church member at City Temple. The Lord has allowed us to fulfill our initial dreams and goals, as people from all over the world visit our website and even take the time to drop us a line via our online e-mail address. In fact, recently, a young man located our church on the Internet and is now taking Bible studies.

Our next phase is to redesign the website with a more state of the art look and feel, to add a youth portal that is accessible from the home page, the ability to order tapes and videos online, and to automate the church directory via an online secure database. We have expanded our Communications team and are looking for God to take us where only a God can as we look to finish His work. And whatever God chooses to do with us and through us, we give Him all the honor; we give Him all the praise. He deserves our best. And that’s what we’re striving to give Him.

Thank you for your interest.

Carolyn
