Miles Topham took over his church's website in 2001. He works in his company's IT training
department and in addition to many other duties, maintains the departmental intranet website of over 1000 pages. He does all
his coding in raw HTML using HomeSite. 2004 Site of the Year

I know our website isn't flashy graphics wise - that isn't my area of expertise, but my goal
has always been to organize information in a way that people can easily find information and make sure it is maintained.
However, I do recognize that keeping a site up-to-date is a big commitment. My recommendation would be to make every effort to
find someone to team up with, to help distribute the workload. Nothing bothers me more than to see all the church
websites that have out-of-date information and calendars. What message does that send to non-members regarding that church? To
me it looks like a church where nothing is happening. Better to develop a website with just basic static information that will
never change than have out-of-date information on it. |
| A Story |
I had the greatest email last week from someone who had stumbled onto our website because of
a search they did on rock climbing. Our collegiate group has some pictures of rock climbing they did on an outing. The
individual said they were really impressed with our website and then only after looking at the pictures discovered it was an
Adventist church website. He said he wished he were younger and would have liked to be part of what that group was doing. |
