Misti Vazquez is the webmaster of Grace Unconditional and Larry Davidson is the programmer.
Our church website was created in 2002. It all began with a domain name: GraceUnconditional.com.
If you ever visit Vallejo Drive Church, the name will probably make sense. It is a perfect description of what we believe. You
see, we have an obsession with grace! I think it is best described in the words of our senior pastor, Smuts van Rooyen:
“At Vallejo, we define ourselves as a theatre, a stage, if you
will, where the astounding grace of God is enacted and displayed. Grace is "our thing."
“What is grace? It's a bright smile of approval from God
directed our way, a yearning on His part for us, a divine high-five given to sinners.
“So what does our obsession with grace translate to in
practical terms?
“Well, it means we don't control the thinking of our members.
Nor do we control their behavior. Nor do we pretend to be the way of anyone's salvation. Instead, we seek to provide an
environment where worship is lofty, where people are empowered, where salvation happens, and above all, where Jesus meets with
us.”
For websites, the design usually comes first, then the content. But our design followed the content. It reflects “Who We Are”.
“We confess that we are the surprised sinners God has called to comprise His Church in this nook of the planet! We
constitute a grace-space, which is sort of a divine ecosystem where people can recover and thrive under the Savior's care.
Ours is a climate where the wind of freedom blows, where the rain of compassion falls, where the sun of love warms.”
We wanted the design to convey the same warmth and acceptance as the copy. We wanted to show visitors a place where they
could find grace – unconditionally!
Our website is not a large site in terms of content. We have basic information about our church, our pastoral staff, and
various ministries. Most of our resources go into maintaining the dynamic sections of the site: the calendar of events, the
sermon archive (as MP3 files) and TruthandSpirit.com. |
